Skin Aging Models

Biomimiq offers human skin equivalents (HSEs) to study human skin aging in vitro and to allow for screening of cosmetic compounds directed at cellular processes involved in human skin aging. Our fully human fibroblast-derived matrix (FDM) model is mostly used for this purpose, as this skin model contains a dermal collagen matrix of full human origin.

 

Serial passaging

Since serially passaged humans kin cells show signs of cellular aging, Biomimiq applies serial passaging on HSEs as an in vitro model of skin aging. A large variety of cosmetic treatments can be tested on these models, including application of formulated compounds or exposure to various sources of light or radiation.
